Nonprofit that helps feed, clothe Jefferson County families faces break-in

BESSEMER, Ala. (WBRC) – A nonprofit that distributes free food and clothing each week is working to recover after someone broke into its facility, stealing items and causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Kikstart, which has helped Jefferson County residents for years, has been targeted by thieves before, said owner Dr. Douglas Jackson.

Jackson and his wife returned to Birmingham after 35 years away, hoping to give back to their community. Despite the setback, he says he has already forgiven the person responsible.
