Alabama EMA coordinating with agencies ahead of wintry mix

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Alabama Emergency Management Agency is watching the entire state. It has started coordinating group calls with all state agencies ahead of the anticipated weekend winter storm.

“Our goal is to just make sure everyone in the state can be as safe as possible, and we can give them the information they need in the time that they need,” said Jaleesa Diggins with the Alabama EMA.

Ashley Brown said she is stocking up with some extra items ahead of the weekend. She also has emergency items in her car, including blankets and water.

Being prepared is key. Brown recalls being stranded at UAB during what was known as the 2014 “Snowpocalypse.”…
