Classroom Champions: Summerville Elementary class wants to replace key educational toy

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — One Lowcountry teacher wants to replace an old toy that was a key part of her classroom.

Summerville Elementary School’s Debby Yanchik works with the special needs program at the school, where she says working with the kids is her passion.

“I’ve been at Summerville Elementary now for three years and I’ve been in Dorchester District 2 since 2006,” Yanchik says. “I was always interested in working with children with developmental delays, and I was always drawn to the younger kids, and I love early language development and early social skill development.”…
