(WJET/WFXP)– Police in Chautauqua County are investigating after a person was fatally struck by a train Tuesday afternoon in the City of Dunkirk.
According to Dunkirk police, the fatal crash happened around 1:30 Tuesday at Middle Road and the CSX railroad crossing.

The driver was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Police later identified him as 77-year-old Adolf E. Herdzig Jr.
