‘People are afraid’: Kerman Mayor addresses ICE language after clerical error

KERMAN, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A clerical error on a proclamation meant to show Kerman’s support for law enforcement has become the catalyst for a conversation with the Mayor of Kerman about Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Fresno County.

During a regularly scheduled city council meeting on January 14, the city issued a proclamation in support of law enforcement for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

According to Kerman Mayor Maria Pacheco, the proclamation originally contained language touting support for ICE along with local law enforcement.

Pacheco says she objected to the proclamation and demanded its revision…
