An Ocala woman was arrested for theft at Target and tased twice when she would not comply with officers.
Officers responded to Target at Rolling Acres Plaza for a past theft around 6:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. While speaking to loss prevention, they saw 50-year-old April Colleen Schofield trying to leave the store with concealed merchandise.
Loss prevention was able to stop her and bring her to their office. But as they calculated the amount of recovered items, she became argumentative. The officers had told her to put her hands behind her back because she was being detained, and she stated she was not under arrest yet, the report said.
The officers still tried to handcuff Schofield, to which she pulled away and stated, “No, don’t touch me.” She continued resisting after receiving multiple commands. Yet she flailed her arms and elbows in a backward swinging motion, not even stopping when told she would be tased if she did not cooperate, the report said…
