Myrtle Beach City Council met Jan. 13 and wasted no time to take action, approving a motion to immediately end the summer traffic diversion plan on Ocean Boulevard.
The controversial summer traffic diversion plan allowed the Myrtle Beach Police Department to close the northbound lane of Ocean Boulevard, from 9th Ave. North to 16th Ave. North, from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., on Friday and Saturday nights to increase safety by adding more visibility of law enforcement in the area. The plan officially was last put in place in 2023.
