Florida revises hurricane relief bill to fix issues

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WFLA) — Efforts to fix last year’s hurricane relief bill are moving forward in Tallahassee.

A Senate committee has advanced legislation lawmakers say will correct unintended consequences that paralyzed local governments last session.

The issue traces back to Senate Bill 180, a top priority for State Senator Nick DiCeglie, R-Indian Rocks Beach. The original bill aimed to speed up recovery efforts, debris removal, permitting delays, and strengthen emergency plans, but soon after its passage, local governments started raising concerns about possible implications.
