DES MOINES, Iowa — The Animal Rescue League of Iowa said it rescued dozens of sick animals from a northeast Iowa property.
The ARL said on Tuesday that it was called to assist with a rescue of dozens of animals, including dogs, cats, and chickens. When crews from the ARL arrived at the property, they found the animals living in unhealthy conditions, with many animals suffering from different illnesses and stages of malnourishment.
The ARL said the cats were thin and had upper respiratory infections, as well as flea and ear mite infestations. One of the cats was humanely euthanized, as the ARL said it was unable to save her due to the severity of her illness.
One of the dogs rescued was also very thin and was missing half of his lower jaw. The ARL said it’s unknown how the dog, named Prince, lost half of his jaw. Prince is now on a gruel diet and is being monitored…
