Controversial Downtown condo project gets green light

A plan to turn the former location of the Handy Stop Market on Jefferson Street into a condo building can move forward after a district judge denied an appeal of an underlying zoning decision brought by the Downtown Development Authority.

15th Judicial District Court Judge John Trahan ruled in favor of Lafayette Consolidated Government on Tuesday morning, dismissing DDA’s appeal on the basis of standing.
