ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis Zoo said goodbye to one of its polar bears, Kallik, last week as he moved across the country.
The polar bear’s move was announced back in September, and Kallik is now settling in at the Oregon Zoo. It was intentionally planned through recommendation by the Polar Bear Population Alliance’s initiative, which aims to sustain the polar bear population in the U.S.
“Kallik is making himself right at home,” Kelly Gomez, who oversees the Oregon Zoo’s polar bear area, said in a release. “He ventured out to explore, dove into both of his chilled saltwater pools and enjoyed some treats.”
