Wednesday Weather | Gusty winds and showers today, more rain ahead

HONOLULU (Island News) — A cold front moving down the island chain this morning is bringing gusty northerly winds and periods of showers, especially near and west of the front.

As the day goes on, the front is expected to slow down near Maui County and gradually weaken, which means on-and-off showery weather could continue through Thursday.

Rain chances are expected to increase statewide heading into Friday and through the weekend as another cold front and weather disturbance move toward the islands. Conditions should slowly improve early next week, starting in the western islands and spreading east, as high pressure builds back into the area.

In the ocean, north and west facing shores will see elevated surf through Friday due to overlapping swells, though wave heights are expected to stay just below advisory levels. Gusty north to northeast winds will also create rough and choppy seas along north-facing shores, especially around the smaller islands this morning…
