BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Sergio Serrato brought 6-month-old Jaylah Serrato Cortez to bed with him the night of Sept. 1, 2023. He fed her a bottle, and they fell asleep.
Early the next morning, he found Jayla “blue and unresponsive,” according to a court filing. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
