The St. Pete Science Festival is one of the best free, family-friendly events of the year

If your kid has been asking “why is the sky blue” 47 times a day, or you are an adult who still loves a good science demo, congratulations. The St. Pete Science Festival is back in 2026, and it is once again one of the smartest ways to spend a Saturday without spending a dime.

The free Public Festival Day is set for Saturday, February 7, from 10 am to 4 pm, taking over the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus and Poynter Park along the waterfront (140 7th Ave S). Expect hands-on exhibits, live demos, main-stage programs, and concessions, all designed to make STEAM feel less like homework and more like “wait, can I try that again?”

Want your own kid to feel like a lab assistant? The festival’s Junior Scientist program brings in middle and high school students to learn from experts and help exhibitors explain the science to the public…
