Man pleads guilty to killing well-known Detroit neurosurgeon, 67-year-old man

DETROIT – The man accused of killing a well-known Detroit neurosurgeon and a 67-year-old Dearborn driver pleaded guilty on Wednesday, ending jury selection.

Desmond Burks, 35, entered a plea agreement that dropped the first-degree murder charge against him, but he pleaded guilty to eight other counts in two separate cases.

Dr. Devon Hoover, 53, was found dead at his home in the Boston-Edison Historic District on Sunday, April 23, 2023. He worked as a neurosurgeon at Ascension Hospital in Detroit at the time of his death…
