FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Fall River man was sentenced for the third time for assaulting his wife just days after being released from jail.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced that Shawn Rego, 32, was convicted on January 15 after a jury trial in Fall River Superior Court for assault and battery on a family member.
Rego was sentenced to serve two and a half years in the Bristol County House of Correction.

Details of the October 2024 Incident
On or about October 17, 2024, Rego was released from the House of Correction after serving an 18-month sentence for assaulting his wife, which at the time was his second conviction for assaulting her.
