Grand Rapids Musicians Invited to Perform at Acrisure Amphitheater Opening

As the brand new Acrisure Amphitheater gets ready to open its doors this spring, it is making room for local talent on one of the biggest nights imaginable. The venue confirmed that a West Michigan performer will have a chance to be part of its grand opening celebration, sharing the stage during opening weekend.

Opening night is already a big deal. The Grand Opening concert is set for Friday, May 15, 2026 at 7:30 p.m., headlined by Lionel Richie. The lineup also includes Michigan duo The War and Treaty, along with Grand Rapids’ own Brian Vander Ark. Now, a local artist will get the opportunity to join the moment of that opening weekend as well.

According to organizers, Grand Action 2.0 has partnered with Michigan based music and events platform opnr to help source performers for the amphitheater’s free grand opening weekend. Opnr is opening a public call for artists, inviting musicians and performers from across West Michigan to submit for a chance to perform during the amphitheater’s public open house.

This venue has been years in the making, and letting a local artist step into that spotlight sends a different message. It says this space is not just bringing big names to Grand Rapids. It is also meant to reflect on the incredible talent that already exists here in West Michigan.

Submissions are being accepted now through Opnr, and artists can join and apply for free on the platform’s website. From there, performers will be considered for slots during the amphitheater’s public opening events…
