The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced today that the right lane on westbound I-80 between Richards (exit 133) and Chicago (exit 132) streets (U.S. 52/Illinois 53) in Joliet is closed for emergency repairs.
The repairs are anticipated to be completed and the lane reopened by the morning rush, Thursday, January 22. Due to the projected temperatures it may take more time for the concrete to set and gain sufficient strength before the lane can be reopened to traffic. Eastbound I-80 will not be impacted.
Heavy congestion is anticipated. Motorists should consider alternative routes to avoid the area. Local streets are unable to accommodate heavy or wide trucks so other interstate routes are encouraged…
