Nessel to appeal parole of man who assaulted, kidnapped Brighton woman

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel will appeal the recently approved parole of Floyd Sanford Jarvi Jr. — convicted more than 30 years ago of sexually assaulting a Brighton resident.

Jarvi, 67, was given a release date of March 10. He was previously granted parole in 2022, but the decision was reversed after a successful emergency stay of enforcement. Nessel announced her intention Jan. 22 to file a new appeal with the 44th Circuit Court in Livingston County to see the parole board decision overturned once more.

“Mr. Jarvi continues to show a lack of remorse for his heinous crimes,” Nessel wrote in a release. “Granting parole in this case completely disregards his refusal to take full accountability, the potential threat to the community, and the substantial harm suffered by the survivor.”…
