Two arrested after pursuit ends with vehicle in ditch

PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — Two women were arrested following a vehicle pursuit involving Portage County deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers initiated the pursuit on I-76 in Rootstown Township on Jan. 16, according to a post on the Portage County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. It did not state why the vehicle was being pursued.

According to the sheriff’s office, the vehicle continued eastbound on I-76 before it exited onto S.R. 225 in Palmyra Township.

As it was going northbound in the 4800 block of S.R. 225, a Portage County deputy executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) on the vehicle which then veered into a ditch.

Jessica Irons, 44, of Streetsboro and Elisabeth Coffield, 39, of Akron were taken into custody and later taken to the Portage County Jail.
