Palatka man arrested in multi-county drug trafficking investigation

PALATKA, Florida — A 48-year-old Palatka man was arrested following a months-long drug trafficking investigation, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Samuel Williams Jr. was taken into custody after authorities executed a search warrant at his residence on January 16.

The warrant was the result of a four-month investigation into Williams’ drug distribution activities, which involved supplying narcotics across Putnam, Clay, St. Johns, and Duval counties, stated the source. During the search, authorities seized 138 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 28 grams of suspected fentanyl, 34 grams of cocaine, 132 grams of powder cocaine, 16 ecstasy pills, 269 grams of synthetic cathinones, 292 grams of marijuana, a firearm, ammunition, and drug-packaging materials.

Williams attempted to flee as the warrant was served but was located nearby by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit and subsequently arrested. He faces multiple charges, including armed trafficking in methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and phenethylamines, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, maintaining a drug dwelling, and resisting arrest without violence…
