Habitat Michigan, the state support organization for Habitat for Humanity, recently named Battle Creek Area Habitat for Humanity the 2025 Medium-sized Affiliate of the Year. The Battle Creek affiliate stated it was honored with this award because of its work in affordable housing and their ramp building program.
This local Habitat has a volunteer base of regular volunteers as well as businesses and civic groups from throughout the area. Habitat here in Calhoun County is building roughly four to five new homes a year, along with 25-plus wheelchair ramps. Since their recent fiscal year began in July, three new hard-working families have closed on an affordable home through Habitat here in Calhoun County.
“It is quite an honor for our affiliate to be named medium-sized affiliate of the year,” said Michael King, executive director of Battle Creek Area Habitat for Humanity. “There are so many amazing affiliates in Michigan who do amazing work. The help that other affiliates have provided to us has been very beneficial. Our affiliate is blessed with so many generous volunteers who give of their time, treasure and talents in such selfless ways. They are quite inspiring.”…
