A $40 million affordable housing project backed by Bronson Healthcare Group is set to break ground this summer next to the health system’s flagship hospital in Kalamazoo after securing $4 million in state and local backing.
Kalamazoo-based Bogan Developments LLC plans to start building the 85-unit apartment complex B on Burdick in June 2026 and wrap construction by early 2028. Roughly one-quarter of the units will be set aside for Bronson employees.
The Michigan State Housing Development Authority awarded the project a $2 million match in December from the Employer-Assisted Housing Fund after Bronson Healthcare Group donated land for the project. The $10 million fund, now fully committed, was a pilot program in which employers received matching investments from the state to put toward workforce housing development.
