MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Mobile chef is among six Alabama restaurant professionals named as semifinalists for the 2026 James Beard Awards today.
Jim Smith with The Hummingbird Way in Mobile is vying for the title of Best Chef in the South region. Five people from Birmingham are have been named in various categories.
Also named as a semifinalist for Best Chef in the South region is Austin Sumrall with White Pillars in Biloxi, Mississippi.
