Driver ‘blacked out’ in Trumbull crash that killed his 18-year-old friend on Route 25, warrant says

BRIDGEPORT — An 18-year-old Rhode Island resident was driving drunk and speeding at the time of a fatal 2024 crash on Route 25 in Trumbull that killed a passenger and seriously injured two others, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Christian Celani was arrested Oct. 23, 2025, and charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle in the death of 18-year-old Timothy Campbell, of Cumberland, R.I. Campbell was working as a teaching assistant at the time, according to his obituary.

State police also charged Celani with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, following too closely, speeding and failure to drive in the proper lane in connection with the crash…
