RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Red light enforcement cameras are coming to Richmond, with these cameras set to go live at several key intersections by the end of January.
In a Jan. 21 press release, the city announced that red light safety cameras have been fully installed at four Richmond intersections, including:
- 25th Street and Main Street
- Belvidere Street and Cary Street
- Chamberlayne Avenue and Brookland Park Boulevard
- Chamberlayne Avenue and Laburnum Avenue
This first pilot wave of cameras — which the city said were intentionally placed at high-risk intersections — will become operational on Friday, Jan. 30.

For the first 30 days these cameras are active, drivers will not receive a citation if they run a red light. Instead, they will receive a warning notice.
After that warning period ends, drivers who run a red light will receive a $50 citation, as allowed for under Virginia law…
