Syracuse Mayor Owens on city school board’s removal of Twiggy Billue: ‘It’s sad’

Syracuse, N.Y. — Mayor Sharon Owens is not sure if the city school district’s board of education went too far in removing one of its members, saying more information still needs to come out about the alleged misconduct.

In a syracuse.com interview Wednesday, Owens spoke publicly for the first time about the school board’s decision Tuesday to oust Education Commissioner Twiggy Billue from her elected seat. Owens said she has not been provided any briefing or other information from the school district.
