Indie film ‘Kings’ brings Springfield story to Alamo Drafthouse

The independent film “Kings” will premiere at 7:20 p.m. Feb. 6 at Alamo Drafthouse Springfield, 4005 South Ave.

The 49-minute feature, written and directed by Carter Breaux, will be followed by a live Q&A with the filmmakers, according to a community announcement. Additional screenings will be added based on audience demand.

‘Kings’ filmed in the Queen City

Shot entirely in Springfield, “Kings” is the result of collaboration across the southwest Missouri film community. The film was created by dozens of local cast and crew members, many of whom connected through the SATO 48 film challenge, an annual filmmaking event in the Ozarks.

“Kings” follows a meticulous chess champion and a scheming poker hustler who find themselves locked in a battle of wits after discovering a box of money in a dumpster. The film blends tension and dark humor while exploring strategy, chance and the thin line between control and chaos…
