US District Attorney’s visit to Kern County prompts Bains to call for further scrutiny into Zack Scrivner case

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — As a team of federal prosecutors makes a visit to Kern County and District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer’s office on Thursday, Assemblymember Dr. Jasmeet Bains (D-Delano) made another call for “federal intervention” in the Zack Scrivner case.

Early Thursday, a social media post from the Kern County District Attorney’s Office showed recently appointed U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California Eric Grant and members of his staff with Kern County DA Cynthia Zimmer. The district attorney’s post said Grant, Zimmer and staff discussed public safety in Kern County.

The post offered no other specifics about that meeting.

Hours later, Assemblymember and congressional candidate Dr. Jasmeet Bains (D-Delano), issued a statement urging further federal involvement in the case of Zack Scrivner and a recent ruling that granted him a mental health diversion after he was charged with child cruelty and illegal firearms possession…
