Timeline for snow, ice in north Alabama: When will freezing rain, sleet and dangerous cold arrive?

Freezing rain, snow and bitterly cold temperatures are all possibilities for North Alabama this weekend. And now, the National Weather Service in Huntsville, is providing a timeline on when the wintry mix could arrive.

According to the NWS update on Thursday afternoon, Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin counties in northwest Alabama are under an ice storm warning starting Friday night through Sunday night. Ice amounts from a quarter inch to an inch are possible with highest levels in the far northwestern part of the state.

“Significant icing is expected with ice and sleet totals up to 1 inch,” NWS in Huntsville said…
