A 14-year-old boy who fatally shot a close friend last year had extracted his mother’s gun from a secure place she kept it so he could try to impress a girl with it, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Investigators had worried that the gun Eshon Hoskins and Dayvion Boone, 14, were handling when Hoskins accidentally shot young Boone in the head Sept. 25 had been left unsecured in Hoskins’ Walker Avenue home.
