Quiet Northeast Side Block Erupts In Late-Night Shooting, Leaving One Critical

A late Wednesday on San Antonio’s Northeast Side took a violent turn when one person was critically injured in what first responders described as a possible shooting, according to the San Antonio Fire Department. Fire crews and police were called to the 100 block of Sabyan Drive just before 10 p.m., and the injured person was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators held the scene into the night as they tried to piece together what happened, with no word yet on a suspect or motive.

As reported by KENS 5, San Antonio police were dispatched to the 100 block of Sabyan Drive for a shooting in progress at about 9:55 p.m., and units remained posted in the area late into the evening. First responders on scene referred to the incident as a “possible shooting” while San Antonio Fire Department crews treated the victim.

Sabyan Drive runs through a residential pocket of the Northeast Side and appears in city street listings for that quadrant. Per the City of San Antonio’s records, Sabyan is one of the mapped streets in the area.
