Let’s begin with some positive news. Auto theft is down in Colorado for 2025. A significant decrease in auto thefts in the state is a step in the right direction, especially given the 35 percent drop in vehicle thefts from 2024.

Auto Theft Has Fallen Sharply Over Three Years

The numbers are even more drastic when you compare 2025 to 2022, with a 61 percent drop in auto thefts over the course of three years. In Northern Colorado, auto theft rates from 2024 to 2025 dropped 34 percent, with a total of 1,463 thefts reported to law enforcement.

While vehicle thefts continue to drop from record highs in 2022, there is still a risk of vehicles being stolen in Colorado. Some areas are more prone to theft than others. These are the cities with the highest auto theft rates in 2025.
