A look back at the 2014 ice storm

AIKEN, SC (WACH) — As a high-impact winter storm approaches the Midlands this weekend, meteorologists are urging residents to take the threat seriously, recalling the devastating ice storm of February 2014.

That storm coated roads, bridges, trees, and power lines with over an inch of ice in parts of Orangeburg and Aiken County, leaving thousands without electricity and prompting former Gov. Nikki Haley to advise residents to “hunker down.”
