Historic Sumner train station gets 5-month lease extension but the pressure to find tenants intensifies

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The historic Sumner train station is facing a deadline that could mean the end, or perhaps new life.

Those have been possibilities for five years now, but the day of reckoning is truly close this time around. It’s clear some people are losing their patience.

“I’m not in favor of continuing this lease,” said 5th Ward City Councilman Larry Koman, at Wednesday night’s council meeting. “After five years, there’s no investor-developers waiting to spend money on this project.”…
