HENDERSONVILLE, NC (WSPA) – The men and women who are on the other end of the line are known as the first first responders, but there are times when those 911 dispatchers have to act before crews can get to a scene.
Sergeant Shanna Dotson, a telecommunicator with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, found herself in that position last October.
“I’ve taken countless calls of ‘my wife’s in labor,’ or ‘I’m in labor’ or ‘I’m, you having contractions,’ she told us. “But I could hear his wife in the background, and I knew that that baby was coming any minute.”…
