Just a day after officially signing with the South Carolina Gamecocks, a report surfaced on Thursday that former Oklahoma wide receiver Jayden Gibson was arrested while he was still a Sooner.
Jordan Kaye of The State Newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina, reported that Gibson was arrested in May for a “domestic violence-related charge” when, “police said they found evidence of ‘fresh injuries’ on his girlfriend.” According to Kaye, South Carolina, coached by former OU offensive coordinator Shane Beamer, was aware of the situation before it signed Gibson out of the Transfer Portal.

The incident reportedly happened in Las Vegas, which is why it went rather unnoticed in Oklahoma, where this arrest would have been public record if it happened in the state. However, there were still rumors that Gibson was in trouble off the field after not seeing the field early on in 2025 and ultimately leaving the program midseason with plans to transfer.
