Huntsville annexes nearly 650 acres in Limestone County, new school planned

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville City Council has approved annexing over 600 acres in Limestone County with plans to use some of that land for a new school.

During its regular meeting on Thursday, the council approved the annexation of the 648.44 acres that are located on the south side of Interstate 565 and east and west of Swancott Road.

The city said the annexation was requested by GL McCrary Farms LLC. According to officials, one hundred acres will be used by Huntsville City Schools to build a P-8 School with the possibility for expansion. The city said the land for the school is being donated by the McCrary family…
