Millions of Southern Californians know the feeling of escaping the city by heading into the mountains. For many, that trip starts on Angeles Crest Highway, a scenic road that feels like a gateway to fresh air and open space.
Late summer brought relief when the full highway reopened after years of closures. Hikers, skiers, and day trippers welcomed back a route they had missed.
