Passenger tells police that pink box of meth came from dumpster diving

A Gainesville woman was arrested on drug charges after claiming her companion handed her a box of meth while dumpster diving.

An officer stopped a red Nissan Sentra with an inoperable tag light near U.S. Hwy. 301 and West Kentucky Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He then approached the vehicle to speak with the male driver and female passenger, identified as 45-year-old Misty Rena Miller.

During the stop, a K-9 unit was asked to check for narcotics and positively alerted to their presence. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a pink bag that Miller had been holding earlier. Inside was a pink box containing two clear glass pipes with burnt residue on the ends. There was also a cellophane bag with 0.9 grams of methamphetamine and a plastic container with an unknown white powdery residue, of which there was not enough to test, the report said.

Miller was then handcuffed and put in the back of a patrol vehicle. She initially advised that the driver had given her the pink box while they were dumpster diving, and she put it in her bag without knowing what was inside. She wanted it because she liked the way it looked. However, she later changed this to say the box belonged to her even if she did not know it contained illegal contraband, the report said…
