LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – One low performer with an infestation of cockroaches – and a dead cockroach on a cutting board that was being used.
India Palace at 3021 34th St. had 21 violations.
- Milk was expired. According to the report, one container was held 60 days past its use-by date. Another container was held approximately 100 days past its use-by date; it was soured, curdled, separated no longer safe.
- Yogurt was molded and no longer safe.
- Tomatoes were molded
- Rice pudding did not have a date mark.
- Raw eggs were stored above fruits, vegetables and drinks.
- There were dead cockroaches on a cutting board that was being used.
- A pesticide labeled for home use was in the kitchen.
- Sanitizer test strips were not functional due to an exposure to an excessive amount of liquid.
- A knife was missing the tip.
- Polystyrene was used as a liner between the microwave and the prep table.
- There was no certified food manager available at the facility.
- Due to a cockroach infestation, the inspector notes the person in charge does not ensure the duties of the PIC are being met.
- Porous, acoustic ceiling tiles are installed above exposed food and equipment in the kitchen.

- There was visible rust inside the ice bin.
- The sanitizer at the three compartment sink was at toxic levels.
- The sanitizer in a sanitizer bucket was at toxic levels.
- Multiple cutting boards were dirty. Multiple plastic cutting boards were damaged with scratches and dark spots.
- Utensils were damaged or cracked.
- A potato cutter was dirty.
- A can opener was dirty.
- Items stored on the clean wears rack had food residue.
- Toxic items were improperly stored.
- Toxic items were not labeled.
- Cooked chicken wings did not have a date Mark.
- A container of sliced lettuce had the wrong date marked.
- An open gallon of milk did not have a date Mark.
- There was a towel and a hand sink.
- There was a spray bottle hanging on the splash guard of a hand sink, and there was debris in the sink.Hand sinks or for handwashing only to prevent cross-contamination.
- There are no paper towels available in the mail or female restrooms.
- Wastewater lines and other draining equipment were not properly installed.

- The nonfood contact surfaces of the potato slicer were visibly soiled.
- Reach-in coolers with glassware, and liquor bottle storage are visibly soiled on the interior surfaces.
- The rubber base board in the ware wash area was missing in some areas.
- The area between the wall and behind the soda machine had an accumulation of debris.
- Floors, walls, and ceilings, are visibly soiled.
- Certified Food Manager Certificate is available but not posted in a conspicuous public place.
- The ladies restroom did not have a handwashing sign posted.
