Mexican national sentenced to 32 years for meth trafficking and illegal re-entry

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A 36-year-old Mexican national was sentenced to 384 months in federal prison for methamphetamine distribution, firearm possession related to drug trafficking, and illegal re-entry into the United States. Ricardo Mujica-Calderon, of San Antonio, was sentenced in a federal court in San Antonio, according to court documents.

Mujica-Calderon sold methamphetamine from his vehicle at a motel in January 2022. A search warrant executed at his residence in April 2022 led to his arrest after he attempted to flee and falsely identified himself with a Mexican ID card. During the search, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents discovered 13 kilograms of methamphetamine, five firearms, and a safe containing additional drugs and cash, according to the DEA.

Mujica-Calderon pleaded guilty on October 17, 2025, to charges including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and illegal re-entry into the United States.
