UPDATE: Eugene Springfield Fire Chief Mike Caven said on-site staff quickly performed a lock out, tag out safety procedure, which according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, means dangerous equipment is safely shut off and cannot be restarted until maintenance or repair work is completed. They provided first aid to the victim and helped rescue firefighters disassemble part of the lathe.
The man had to be disentangled from the machine and suffered life-threatening injuries…
