Gresham detectives seek teenage murder suspect one year after shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (PORTLAND TRIBUNE) — Detectives continue to seek a murder suspect who shot and killed a fellow teenager in an unprovoked bout of violence at a Gresham park one year ago.

Just after 4 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2025, Jorge Ovidio Mateo Vasquez, 17, was shot and killed while playing on the futsal court at Vance Park. Investigators identified the suspect, 17-year-old Camerino Vides, of Gresham, but have been unable to locate him one year later. They say the killing was a random act of violence.

Gresham detectives are seeking tips from the public to help find and apprehend Vides. They warn the public not to approach him as he may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to call 911 immediately.

“Someone knows where Vides is,” said Detective Huffman. “We need the community’s help to locate him so we can hold him accountable and bring some measure of justice to Jorge’s family.”…
