ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed along Smokey Park Highway on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, around 8:45 p.m.
Asheville police said a preliminary investigation found that Eric Jonathan Cope was crossing the road at the 400 block, outside of a designated crosswalk, when a northbound Ford F-250 truck struck him.
