BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — The City of Birmingham and Jimmie Hale Mission will open a nightly warming station Sunday, Jan. 25, and Monday, Jan. 26, as temperatures are expected to fall below freezing.
The station will operate from 6 p.m. until temperatures rise above freezing each morning. Men, women, and children may seek shelter at Jimmie Hale Mission, 3420 2nd Ave. North, where food will be provided. Shelter for women and children only will be available at Pathways, 409 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd.
Shuttle service will not be available due to potential icy conditions. The Birmingham Xpress bus line is expected to continue running every 30 minutes with a stop in front of the Mission, weather permitting…
