3,000 grams of cocaine worth $81K found during I-80 traffic stop in Ohio

CLEVELAND — Felony drug charges were filed against a Richmond Heights man after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said they found about 3,000 grams of cocaine during a traffic stop in Mahoning County.

Troopers stopped a 2014 Cadillac SRX with Pennsylvania plates at about 1:37 p.m. Jan. 21 on Interstate 80 for a vehicle defect violation, they said.

Troopers noticed signs of criminal activity and called a drug-sniffing dog, which alerted on the vehicle, the patrol said. A search uncovered cocaine estimated to be worth about $81,000, according to authorities.

The passenger, Randy Cottingham, 55, of Richmond Heights, was taken to the Mahoning County Jail. He was charged with possession of drugs and drug trafficking, both first-degree felonies…
