DOWNTOWN — A FEDERAL JUDGE allowed parts of a religious discrimination lawsuit to proceed against the New York City Department of Education, Shore News Network reports.
The lawsuit, presided by U.S. District Judge Brian M. Cogan, claims that Hadar Gahfi, a Hasidic Jewish principal, was discriminated against for her religion and retaliated against after she requested workplace injury compensation. Gahfi alleges the DOE denied her paid line-of-duty injury leave, extended her probation as principal and failed to provide adequate administrative support.
