EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An East Lansing Independent Police Oversight Commission leader claimed in an interview Thursday with 6 News Investigates that ELPD Officer Andrew Lyon responds differently to situations based on the race of the individuals involved.
“Because, again I’ve seen how he can absolutely change his practices when the individuals doing the exact same thing are white versus when those individuals are Black. And from watching that and other situations, it appears he just does not have the skillset to help this community get to the place where the police department represents the desires of the community,” said Kath Edsall, vice chair of ELIPOC.
