Chevalier’s is L.A.’s oldest independent bookstore, nestled in the heart of Larchmont Village and beloved by generations of bookworms. What once was a lending library now has become a community cornerstone. Co-owner Bert Beixler envisioned Chevalier’s as a place where his grandchildren could be read to, continuing a tradition he shared with his own children. Co-owner Patty Lombard embraced the Larchmont community so deeply that she authored a book honoring its history. From author signings to a vibrant children’s section, Chevalier’s Books remains a key foundation of Los Angeles’ literary culture.
